The Bangsamoro Turkish Educational Academy

The Bangsamoro Turkish Educational Academy (BTEA) is an educational organization established in the Mindanao Bangsamoro region of the Philippines. BTEA is a joint educational institution established by the Human Foundation, Deniz Feneri Association, Dosteli Association, and SASA Foundation together with the Moro people. The purpose of this unity is to find solutions to the educational needs of our Bangsamoro Muslim brothers who have gained their autonomy. BTEA combines all stages of education from primary education to university under one roof. The academy carries out its work by taking into account the religious and cultural sensitivities of the Muslims in the region.

The Bangsamoro Turkish Educational Academy (BTEA) welcomes all NGOs operating in the field to implement educational projects and carry out educational activities in Moro. We will be pleased to see institutions that will support BTEA among us.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

We set out in 2016 to build a modern educational complex for our Bangsamoro brothers and sisters who have gained their independence through great struggles.

Education is the most important need in Bangsamoro, just as it is in the entire Islamic world. During our visits to the region and various aid activities, the biggest request from the people of the region has been for educational centers. Therefore, the idea of building a fully equipped educational complex emerged in 2016 during our discussions with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA). In 2017, the official negotiation and contract process for the project was completed, and a land of 51,000 m2 was purchased for the educational complex to be built in the name of Sultan Abdulhamid II, where a primary school, a middle school, a high school, and an orphanage are located. In 2019, an additional 90,000 m2 of land was purchased to begin the construction of the Salamat Hashim University Campus. In the complex, dozens of units will be built, including administrative buildings, faculties, sports areas, mosques, dining halls, and dormitories. Additionally, a hotel and a clock tower will also be constructed.

Our country, which brings goodness to the whole world and protects the oppressed, the victimized, the poor and all people in need, has become the "World's Leader in Goodness" in recent years, both in terms of aid amount and per capita national income. All our foundations and associations, especially our institutions such as the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), Red Crescent, and Turkish Diyanet Foundation are in a healthy competition for goodness. Together with our government institutions, NGOs, and our people we provide humanitarian aid materials, health aid, cultural and educational support and assistance to development projects to all oppressed people around the world. In addition, with the belief and awareness that the most important assistance has to be implemented in the field of education, we have started this great education campaign for our Moro brothers who have embarked on the path of becoming an independent state.

As in the Autonomous Bangsamoro Region, there are no universities founded and run by Muslims in the Philippines. Our project is the first of its kind in the region, as well as the first major project of this scale in Türkiye, which has been carried out by all our NGOs operating in this field and our philanthropic nation.

Our project has been completed through stages and the first stage included the Faculty of Law, Faculty of Tourism and Faculty of Medicine. The 1st stage faculties, the construction of which began in 2020, started operating in 2022.
